1. Statement of commitment
Small and Simple Steps Limited is committed to reducing its environmental impact and supporting the UK’s target of achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
As a provider of education, training and licensed learning programmes, we recognise our responsibility to operate in an environmentally responsible manner. We are committed to making practical and sustainable choices that minimise waste, reduce emissions and support the responsible use of resources as our business develops and grows.
2. Our current approach
As a small business, we believe that meaningful environmental responsibility starts with everyday decisions.
We currently:
- Use electronic communication, invoicing, contracts and document sharing wherever practical.
- Minimise unnecessary printing and paper use.
- Use renewable electricity tariffs at our primary business locations where available.
- Use an electric vehicle for the majority of business travel.
- Make use of virtual meetings where appropriate to reduce unnecessary journeys.
- Plan travel efficiently to reduce avoidable mileage.
3. Training materials and resources
We recognise that printed materials can play an important role in effective learning and professional development.
Where printed resources are required, we aim to:
- Print only what is necessary.
- Reduce waste through careful planning and ordering.
- Work with suppliers who demonstrate sustainable practices where practical.
- Encourage the recycling and responsible disposal of materials after use.
We will continue to explore digital alternatives where these support learning outcomes without reducing the quality or accessibility of the educational experience.
4. Sustainable procurement
When purchasing goods and services, we seek to balance environmental considerations with quality, value and suitability.
Where practical, we will:
- Favour suppliers that demonstrate environmental responsibility.
- Select durable equipment and resources designed for long-term use.
- Reduce unnecessary purchasing and avoid waste.
- Support organisations that are actively working to reduce their environmental impact.
5. Future commitments
As Small and Simple Steps Limited grows, we will continue to review our environmental impact and identify opportunities for improvement.
Our commitments include:
- Reducing travel-related emissions where practical.
- Prioritising lower-emission transport options where appropriate.
- Increasing the use of sustainable and recyclable materials.
- Reviewing opportunities to reduce paper consumption.
- Considering environmental impact when making significant business decisions.
- Reviewing our environmental performance annually and identifying realistic actions for improvement.
6. Monitoring and review
Responsibility for this policy rests with the Director of Small and Simple Steps Limited.
This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains appropriate for the size, activities and future development of the business.
